Plants and Princesses’ Adventure
Co sponsored by The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association and The Huntington Botanical Gardens
This unique event to introduces the Tournament and Roses Queen and Court to 125 students from Longfellow Elementary in Pasadena Unified and 3rd Street Elementary in East LA and The Huntington Botanical Gardens. The Court will have the opportunity to interact with the students as they enjoy three unique sessions designed specifically for their age. These sessions will be both fun and educational as they “accidentally” learn about plants. By interacting with the Court and building a ‘Rose Parade Float’ the students will hopefully learn that they are members of the community that is Pasadena and that Pasadena is a special place to call home. Most of all, that education, the parade, becoming a Princess, and community involvement is very real to every citizen.
Court arrives and assists half of the students with the building of their own Rose Parade Float talking about the parade, how the floats are all natural materials etc, while the other half of the court assists the students with microscopes and plant biology. The court addresses the entire group talking about their experiences, to stay in school, and all the great things they are doing in their Queen and Court. Then the court receives a police escort to the lunch 3 min away to our regular meeting where they address about 115 more senior community members.
